History

NC IDEA was founded in 2005 and is located in Durham, NC.  In Spring 2006 NC IDEA awarded its first set of grants to six start-up companies for a total of $224,360.  In the eleven grant cycles thus far, NC IDEA has awarded over $2.3M to 62 companies.  Several NC IDEA grant winning companies have gone on to win further business grants, receive angel funding and/or receive institutional funding.
